Pastor Randy Barnes was born in Dallas, Oregon. He received Christ as His Savior at the first church camp he ever attended at the age of 13. Pastor Randy graduated from Dallas High School and then off to college to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
During his second year of college at George Fox Bible College, he met the woman who would eventually become his wife. Pastor Randy moved to the Richland, WA in the summer of 1980 so that he and Shelly could get married. That same year he began working as a Nuclear Process Operator. Pastor Randy and Shelly were married in November of 1980. In the spring of 1981, Pastor Randy and Shelly began attending Temple Baptist Church. They quickly began serving in the youth ministry as volunteers.
Pastor Randy began as a volunteer police officer and then was hired by the City of Richland as a full-time officer in 1982. He and Shelly continued to serve as leaders at Temple Baptist during his entire 28 year law enforcement career. Pastor Randy worked patrol, detectives, undercover narcotics, SWAT Team, and police training officer. At his retirement, Pastor Randy held the rank of Division Commander.
In 1996, Pastor Randy and Shelly felt a strong calling to surrender to full-time ministry whenever the Lord would have them. At that point Pastor Randy went back to college, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology. Upon his retirement from law enforcement in 2010, he was called to the pastorate at Temple Baptist. He now serves as Senior Pastor of the church.
Pastor Randy has a passion for God’s word and for people. His training and experience in ministry, law enforcement, and leadership serve as a solid foundation for his preaching, teaching, counseling, and mentoring.
I was raised in Richland and graduated from high school in 1962. That summer I received Christ as my savior and began attending a fundamental Baptist church, and I met my future wife Karen. We were married in 1966 and were blessed with two children. We went to Bible colleges in Nebraska and California and were called to our first pastorate in 1968. We served several churches in the northwest and we also ministered a number of years in evangelism.
In 1979, I led in the founding of Temple Baptist Church of Richland. The church was organized as a fundamental, independent Baptist church. My goal is to develop a warm, nurturing, family environment where each believer can feel accepted, loved and be able to grow into Christ-likeness. Strong Bible teaching is at the heart of my ministry. If you are looking for a warm church home where you can grow in your relationship with Christ, I invite you to visit Temple Baptist Church in Richland.
Pastor Caleb Farmer was born and raised in the small country town of Milledgeville, in NW Illinois. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of four after hearing his dad preach a salvation message. At the age of 10, he surrendered his life to full-time Christian service during evangelistic meetings at his church. Growing up in a pastor’s home allowed him to be involved in many aspects of ministry from a young age.
Following his graduation from high school in the spring of 2011, he enrolled at Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, WI. The Lord used his time in college to bring many new opportunities into his life, the greatest coming in the fall of 2012 when he met his future wife, Laura. They were married in the summer of 2015 following their graduations from MBU.
Pastor Caleb returned to Maranatha the following fall to pursue a Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling. During the two years that it took to complete this degree, Pastor Caleb served as the Residence Supervisor in one of the men’s dorms on campus. This opportunity gave him invaluable experience in leadership, counseling, and ministry. Also during this time, Pastor Caleb and Laura were able to stay involved in their local church, through helping out in the Wednesday night children’s ministry, nursery, and song leading.
In February of 2017, Pastor Caleb received a call from Pastor Barnes about the opportunity of joining the ministry at Temple Baptist. After a survey trip in mid-March, Pastor Caleb and Laura returned at the end of May to officially candidate for the position of Assistant Pastor. Following that trip, Temple Baptist extended the call, and Pastor Caleb began his ministry on July 1st. On October 8th that same year, the Lord blessed Pastor Caleb and Laura with the birth of their daughter, Emma Rose.
Pastor Caleb loves preaching, teaching, counseling, and working with people of all ages, and is excited about the opportunities that will present themselves in the years to come as a member of the team at Temple Baptist.
